1 in 4 people suffer with mental health issues, but very few get the help they need.
To raise money for Mind, the mental health charity, this June, seven members of our Mental Health and Wellbeing colleague group will be taking on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge on 21st June – 24 miles, 3 mountains, under 12 hours.
Group lead Susie Kybett said;
“Our reasons for walking are manifold. We want to raise money for a national charity that supports people suffering from poor mental health. As lawyers, and those working in the legal sector, we know how mental health can be a real issue, keeping wellbeing a priority is not always possible. The legal sector reports some of the highest stress, burnout and anxiety rates, so looking after our people is really important to us.
Secondly, those going through family breakdown and difficulties are at increased risk of a mental health issue. Mind, and other amazing organisations and individual professionals work tirelessly to support these people, and we want to contribute to this work.
Finally, we want to raise awareness of the work we are doing as the MH&Wellbeing group to reduce stigma, really listen to the needs of colleagues, and influence policy”.
Mind is fighting for change and helping people get support. They are a national charity, with over 100 local Minds across England and Wales, offering everything from counselling, to peer support, to people to speak on behalf of those with no voice.
