East Midlands – Stowe Family Law Partner Opportunity

Dear Family Lawyer,

Rather than writing a job advert, I thought I would tell you a little bit about my time at Stowe in the hope that my story resonates with you in some way.

I have been at Stowe for 3 years now, and I genuinely cannot believe the opportunities I have been given in such a short space of time and the chance to build a team here in the East Midlands is everything I could have hoped for and more. Having worked in the same firm for 25 years (and building my career as a Chartered Legal Executive), I felt like there was little or no clear prospect of progression or route to it; this is what attracted me to Stowe. From the first conversation, it was clear there was no glass ceiling and that I could see a route to get where I wanted to be. I had always aimed to be a head of department by the time I was 50 – having spent the last 20 years raising my family with my career aspirations on the back burner.  As it was, I became Managing Partner ten months before my 50th birthday, having been made Partner six months earlier.  I was supported and encouraged right from the start to aim high and given opportunities to shine. My managers made me feel so valued that my confidence grew and enabled me to push myself out of my comfort zone.

When I took on the role of Team Leader Partner prior to my current role, initially, I found it quite an adjustment to juggle the commercials of the role AND managing the team, but Stowe set me up for success by reducing my targets and providing me with the right support and training. Our team structures are carefully thought out to allow everyone in their role to feel challenged but not swamped by their responsibilities. Hence why, we are looking for a Partner to join my team in the East Midlands to continue and build on the success we have seen in recent years.

If I think back to what mattered to me when I was searching for my next role, it was a firm that supported my development and had clear communication. Here at Stowe, you are made part of the plans for your team and can share in what is ahead rather than being kept in the dark – this makes you feel informed, able to participate and share your views on any upcoming changes and know that you will be heard. Our leadership style is open, honest and supportive. It is expected that we deliver a top class service and achieve our targets but we are given all the tools to be able to achieve this.

So what’s next? We have healthy growth plans over the next few years, this means growing the number of offices within the East Midlands as well as building out the team to support the increased workload. As Team Leader Partner, you will manage the development and performance of the team, with the support from myself and large head office functions.

I know on every advert it pens ‘this is an exciting opportunity’ but roles like this really don’t come up often within the family law industry and I’m really happy to share my experience with you in further detail if you want a confidential chat.

Warmest wishes,

Beth Sheridan

Managing Partner, East Midlands
