It is a time for celebrating action, making a commitment, and inspiring everyone to create inclusive workplaces. This year’s theme for National Inclusion Week is The Power of Now, encouraging people to take action and challenge where more can be done to build more inclusive cultures.
At Stowe Family Law we are excited to share that, following the launch of our Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging group last year we have recently become a member of Inclusive Employers. Becoming part of this incredible network will provide us with guidance and structure from D&I experts at Inclusive Employers, who will support us as we continue on our journey, as well as access to educational materials, webinars and information to inspire our DIB group, our leaders and everyone at Stowe.
We want everyone to feel they can be their true self at work. Inclusive employers have created a series of daily actions to help bring the #PowerOfNow theme to life.
The actions include: The power of identity – Share who you are and The Power of Connection – reach out
The power of identity at Stowe we have a platform for colleagues to use where they can share more about themselves. This could be from adding their preferred pronouns to sharing their hobbies and ‘superpowers’. This can help encourage those who may find it difficult to share theirs too.
The power of connection is extremely topical following the pandemic and now as we navigate dynamic working. For many of our colleagues, there are still so many benefits to working from home a few days a week, but it’s important to maintain a connection. If our colleagues can’t get together face to face, they have regular Teams catch-ups (with cameras on as much as possible) these conversations are sometimes for a chat over coffee not just to ‘talk work’.
